Before joining Hillwood, Smith served in senior management positions for Chevron Corporation. As president and general manager of business development in Moscow, he developed and maintained long-term relationships with the Russian Presidential Administration and the Russian Federation government. Smith serves as chairman of the American Chamber of Commerce in Russia. He also serves on the Petroleum Advisory Board and is a member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers and the American Association of Petroleum Geologists.
