Tom Mason serves as Executive Vice President – Treasurer for Hillwood. Having joined Hillwood in January 1992, Mason has been instrumental in managing the company’s financial affairs, including establishing and maintaining construction and permanent lending relationships, establishing treasury and financial reporting controls and assisting in business and tax planning processes.

Before joining Hillwood, Mason worked with VMS Realty Partners in Chicago, assisting with the debt restructuring and asset liquidation of this $9.0 billion troubled real estate syndicator.

Previously, Mason developed an 11 – year career of accounting and financial responsibility in the commercial property development group of Lincoln Property Company. With a final position as Executive Vice President – Finance, Mason was integral in initiating financial relationships for Lincoln, allowing his division to develop in excess of $3.0 billion of office, retail and industrial projects during his tenure.

In 1977 Mason joined the Dallas office of Kenneth Leventhal & Company as audit manager. He previously worked for four years with Arthur Andersen & Co. in Dallas, serving as senior auditor in the Real Estate and Natural Resources Division.

A graduate of Stephen F. Austin State University, Mason earned a Bachelor of Science in 1970. After completing his active duty training in the U.S. Army Reserve in 1971, he joined the staff of an individual investor with interests in oil and gas, cattle ranching, and real estate and obtained his certificate as a Certified Public Accountant in the State of Texas in 1973.
