Russell Freeman serves as the Chief Executive Officer of Hillwood Energy, a Perot company, and its subsidiary, HKN Energy, for which he serves as a board member. He is also the Chief Operating Officer for The Perot Group and serves as Vice Chairman of the board for Petrus Trust Company, the trustee for all major Perot family trusts.
Freeman is a co-founder and non-executive managing member of GuideIT, LLC, an IT services company. He also serves on the advisory board for Bowie Capital, an investment management firm for institutions and high net worth individuals. Freeman serves as a board member for Provo Craft, which operates in the project and crafting industry.
Freeman has more than 25 years of operational, financial management and business development experience, 20 of which were with Perot Systems Corporation. He served as Chief Operating Officer of Perot Systems from 2007 to 2009. Prior to this role, he served as Chief Financial Officer for seven years and was the main interface to the investment community, overseeing merger and acquisitions activities, and was responsible for the corporation's planning, accounting and treasury functions. He previously served as Corporate Controller and was a member of the leadership teams for several of the company’s operating units. Prior to joining Perot Systems in 1989, he worked for Arthur Young & Company.
Freeman is a member of the Board of Trustees for the Southwestern Seminary Foundation, a foundation established for the benefit of Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, where he serves as Chairman of the Investment Committee for the board. He is an active member of Cottonwood Creek Baptist Church, serving on the Pastoral Advisory Council, Personnel Committee and as an adult Bible teacher.
Freeman previously received his certificate as a certified public accountant. He attended Texas Tech University, where he received his Bachelor of Business Administration in accounting.
