Position Summary:

We are currently seeking an experienced IT Project Manager (PM) in Dallas, TX that will sit within the Enterprise Project Management Office (EPMO.) The SPM plays a pivotal role in leading, overseeing, and ensuring the successful delivery and management of projects during the Initiation and Planning phases. The individual is responsible for thorough project scoping, planning, and alignment with organizational objectives. The SPM provides crucial leadership, guidance, and motivation to project teams, ensuring that projects are meticulously planned and successfully executed on time and in budget.

Responsibilities:

  • Project Planning and Scoping:
    • Analyze project proposals to determine time frame, funding & resource limitations, and appropriate approach (i.e., waterfall, agile, products) to accomplish projects.
    • Identify and schedule project deliverables, milestones, tasks, and risk.
    • Lead development of EPMO standards and tools to facilitate decision-making and execution.
  • Project Leadership and Execution:
    • Provide strong leadership and motivation to project team members during the project initiation and planning phases.
    • Memorialize project requirements and establish Work Breakdown Plans, Resource requirements, and project budgets. Work with project owner to accurately reflect the work to be done in the project value proposition.
    • Provide project reporting and insights which reinforce emerging Governance mechanisms.
    • Tran and develop Associates project management skills.
  • Transition to Delivery:
    • Facilitate a seamless handoff to delivery project managers by reviewing requirements, scope, plans, stakeholders, and other pertinent project details prior to kickoff.
    • Provide fundamental project management and reporting training to extended project team members, ensuring adherence to EPMO standards.
    • Facilitate post-project “value realization” to review and assess impacts and improvements.
  • Stakeholder Interaction:
    • Interact with senior leadership and key stakeholders, demonstrating sensitivity to working in a professional, entrepreneurial environment.
    • Manage customer expectations effectively, ensuring alignment with project goals and organizational objectives.

Required Skills/Abilities:

  • Leadership: Ability to lead, motivate, and empathize with team members, fostering a collaborative and productive team environment.
  • Project Management Expertise: Mastery in project management methodologies, including PMI, PRINCE2, and agile/ product approaches. Ability to prioritize competing priorities to ensure needs are met.
  • Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, vital for transparent reporting and effective stakeholder communication. Ability to present in front of leaders and steering committee.
  • Business Acumen: Distinctive blend of business, IT and financial skills are crucial to drive change and implement/ roll out solutions. Ability to analyze complex business issues to solve problems.
  • Influence and Negotiation: Effective influencing and negotiating skills, particularly in environments where direct resource control may be limited.
  • Portfolio and Program Management: Experience with Portfolio or Program Management, demonstrating competency in managing complex projects and initiatives.
  • Team Leadership: Demonstrated experience in leading teams, fostering an atmosphere of collaboration, innovation, and problem-solving. Ability to interface with our different business unit leaders to identify their needs and translate the needs into actionable items.
  • Working Across Business Units (BU): Ability to work with different BUs to understand their needs and gain leaders buy in for proposed projects.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science, information systems, project management or general business management.
  • Minimum of 8 years of demonstrated competency in project management role involving the planning and execution of multiple projects or a large project.
  • Minimum of 5 years IT experience solving business problems and managing across multi-functional team.
  • ERP or consolidation system experience required, JD Edwards or OneStream preferred.
  • PMP or CSM certificate required.
  • Experience working across multi-functional BUs with a proven track record of building and cultivating relationship and establishing trust.
