Under his leadership as President of Hillwood Communities for the past decade, Fred Balda has distinguished this division as one of the top ten development companies in the country. He has not only overseen development of its 20,000 residential lots and 70 master-planned communities, but he has also boosted the Hillwood Communities portfolio with recent acquisitions that span the United States and extend to Costa Rica.
Balda continues to expand and redefine the division’s business plan while adhering to its long-held cornerstones of Great Locations, History of Success, Innovative Ideas and Master-Planning Excellence.
Balda plays an active role in the local real estate market as a member of ULI, TREC, various local Chambers of Commerce, the Home Builder’s Association of Greater Dallas and the Planning and Zoning Commission for the City of Plano.
Balda launched his real estate career in 1985 when he began working at Trammell Crow Company as a Project Manager of master-planned communities throughout the Dallas/Fort Worth market. During his tenure with Club Corporation of America (1990-1992), he added golf course development and entitlement to his field of expertise before joining Hillwood in 1992.
A graduate of Texas A&M in 1982, Balda earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering.
