Mike Berry serves as president of Hillwood with expertise in mixed-use, industrial, corporate campus, and urban office. Berry also leads the development efforts for AllianceTexas, an 26,000-acre development that is recognized as one of the most unique master-planned communities in the United States.
With 35 years of commercial real estate development experience, Berry oversees all management, operations and transactions for the development and serves as the company’s representative to its publicsector partners.
Under his leadership, AllianceTexas, which encompasses more than 43.7 million square feet, over 488 corporate residents, 48,800 plus employees and 10,000 single-family homes, has become a dynamic, diversified and highly successful community surpassing $69 billion in economic impact to the North Texas region since its establishment in 1989.
The project’s centerpiece is the Alliance Global Logistics Hub – an international trade and logistics complex with one of the nation’s largest intermodal rail yards, the world’s first industrial airport and connections to state and interstate highways.
Beyond his efforts at AllianceTexas, in 2015 Berry and the Hillwood team announced the launch of Frisco Station, a 242-acre high-density mixed-use development in Frisco, Texas, in partnership with VanTrust Real Estate and The Rudman Partnership.
In his role with Hillwood Urban, Berry is building on the strength of a diverse and trusted group of Hillwood executives and development professionals to launch a corporate office and mixed-use division for the company. The Hillwood Urban team is focused on marketing and developing strategic development sites in its Downtown and Uptown Dallas portfolio, as well as new investment and development opportunities in the North Texas market.
Berry began his commercial real estate career in 1982 and joined Hillwood in 1988. For his accomplishments in the industry and the community, he was inducted into the North Texas Commercial Real Estate Hall of Fame in 2013 and was the recipient of The Golden Deeds Award in 2016.
Berry received his Bachelor of Science in Economics from Vanderbilt University, and a Masters of Business Administration from Texas Christian University. He is also a graduate of Harvard University’s Graduate School of Design Advanced Management Development Program.
