Accounting giant Deloitte breaks ground on Westlake complex

Accounting giant Deloitte LLP is breaking ground today on its 107-acre national educational and office complex in Westlake.

The project could eventually cost up to $300 million and will include classrooms, informal learning spaces, meeting rooms and conference facilities, a dining facilities, a fitness center and 800 guest rooms.

“The construction of Deloitte University affirms and advances our commitment to our people and underscores our belief that our people are our greatest asset,” Barry Salzberg, chief executive officer of Deloitte LLP, said in a statement. “Deloitte University will deliver leading-edge learning at critical moments in each person’s career, from new hires to partners, principals and directors.”

The facility is set to open in 2011.

Earlier projections said that the facility could serve as many as 40,000 visitors a year.
