Daimler Financial takes more space in AllianceTexas

Daimler Financial Services Americas is expanding its footprint in Hillwood’s AllianceTexas development to house employees for its Daimler Truck Financial business.

The company said Monday it will be expanding the customer service, collections and remarketing operations of its Mercedes-Benz Financial business unit in Westlake to include similar services for its Daimler Truck Financial business.

Daimler Financial will be moving an additional 180 jobs from its Daimler Truck Financial operations in Lisle, Ill., and 35 employees from its Mercedes-Benz Financial locations around the country, to a new 204,000-square-foot facility in Hillwood’s AllianceTexas development north of Fort Worth.

In August, the Dallas Business Journal reported Mercedes-Benz Financial planned to transfer 350 employees from its building in Westlake to Alliance. Currently, there are 450 employees at the Westlake facility.

The company was going to move the employees into an existing building near Hillwood’s headquarters. Now the employees will go into a new build-to-suit building in Alliance.

The move is expected to be completed by summer 2008.

Following the split of Daimler-Benz and Chrysler, Daimler Financial Services Americas, based in Farmington Hills, Mich., says it is concentrating on growing and servicing its loan portfolio from the sales of Mercedes-Benz passenger cars and Freightliner, Sterling and Western Star heavy duty trucks.

Co-locating the customer service and dealer credit operations of our two business units — Mercedes-Benz Financial and Daimler Truck Financial — will create a learning environment for our employees that will lead to professional growth opportunities,” said Klaus Entenmann, president and CEO of Daimler Financial Services Americas, in a prepared statement.

AllianceTexas is a 17,000-acre, mostly industrial development owned by Hillwood, a Ross Perot Jr. company.
