Developer Hillwood chooses renewable energy

Dallas real estate company Hillwood bought renewable electricity for its North Texas properties, making the company the largest real estate purchaser of renewable power in Texas and the second-largest in the nation.

A spokesman for Hillwood said the company will pay Energy Future Holdings’ TXU Energy around 5 cents to 7 cents per kilowatt hour for about 65 million kilowatt hours of electricity this year. Hillwood owns the AllianceTexas and Victory Park developments.

Current Energy negotiated the contract on behalf of Hillwood.
