Dune, the downtown New York design studio and manufacturer known for cutting-edge mod chairs, sofas, tables and case goods, is in expansion mode. A loft-friendly satellite, DUNE LIVING, debuted last September at ABC Carpet & Home. Now, the furniture maker is picking up a Texas twang with a boutique inside Victory Park’s LFT.
The pieces in the lounge-like upstairs showroom are streamlined and pared-down, but style here comes with plenty of substance in the form of high-level materials (wood, steel, down) and craftsmanship (hand tufting and stitching). The company prides itself on not mass-producing anything. Sofas and sectionals range from $2,780 to $8,425, chairs from $220 to $3,820 and side and coffee tables from $645 to $3,645.
“Our customers are style savvy,” says Dune founder (and occasional product designer) Richard Shemtov. “They already care about the details in how they dress and what they drive; now they want to make an equally strong style statement in their homes. The right furniture can absolutely transform how you feel about your space.”
Consider it a mod makeover.
