A Taiwanese manufacturer opened its first North American plant in Fort Worth, a move that could generate hundreds of jobs for the area.
Foxlink Group, or Cheng Uei Precision Industry Co. Ltd., opened a 147,780-square-foot factory at 4600 Alliance Gateway Fwy. The company is known as an original equipment manufacturer/original design manufacturer, meaning it can design and manufacture products on behalf of other businesses. Foxlink makes connectors, cable assemblies, power management devices and battery packs and is known as a longtime provider of components for iPhone maker Apple Inc.
Freddy Kuo, CEO of Foxlink, described the Fort Worth plant as a major expansion. The focus of the facility, which will start production in August, will be surface mount technology and processing and printed circuit board assembly, testing and packaging. The company already employs a little more than 50 people in Fort Worth, Kuo said, but that could ramp up to 900 as the company gains more customers. The company will start with two production lines, each of which will be able to produce 500 to 1,000 components a day, depending on the product.
Kuo also wants to bring innovation to the manufacturing floor by implementing artificial intelligence to drive efficiency.
“The long-term goal is to really showcase what manufacturing should look like in the future, not just taking the old process and bringing it into somewhere new,” he said.
Most of the factory’s workforce will consist of engineers and software engineers, database collectors and robotics and automation roles. Alliance was the right choice for the company, Kuo said, because it’s a hub for technology companies and key for logistics with nearby airports and freeways to ship products. The building is also located in a foreign trade zone.
Foxlink is going into Alliance Gateway 17. Hillwood developed it in 1998, originally as a call center for TD Ameritrade. It was eventually bought by J.P. Morgan. Hillwood represented J.P. Morgan in the sale to Foxlink, which closed in 2025. It then took six months to convert the office building into a manufacturing center.
Jack Barkley, vice president of industrial leasing for Hillwood, said the “south gateway” sector of Alliance spans about 19 million square feet and has emerged as a prime destination for advanced manufacturing in recent years. He pointed to MP Materials’ Independence Facility, which makes rare earth magnets. Down the street from MP Materials is Beauty Manufacturing Solutions, which produces soaps and scrubs using advanced automation. Carolina Beverage Group makes energy drinks south of Foxlink’s facility.
“Just in this little pocket, the breadth of manufacturing is pretty impressive,” Barkley said.
