Lego adds a few more bricks

Danish toymaker LEGO Systems Inc. is increasing the size of its North American distribution center in Texas by about half.

The company will move from a 402,500-square-foot location at the Alliance Global Logistics Hub to a 596,000-square-foot space down the street. Both facilities are in the Roanoke, Texas, section of the Alliance Global Logistics Hub.

Hillwood, the developer of the distribution center, said the move illustrates that it has space to assist customers in avoiding operational and labor issues inherent with most moves. Other companies that have expanded at Alliance include General Mills, Motorola, ATC Logistics, SC Johnson & Sons, LG Electronics, and Bell Helicopter.

Lego’s distribution center is managed by the third-party logistics company Exel Inc., which operates about 2.5 million square feet of space at Alliance.
