Park it, for now

Desoto (Miss.) Times: DeSoto County Supervisors on Monday delayed a vote until Aug. 4 on rezoning for a proposed warehouse development. Hillwood Investment Properties is seeking approval to rezone 265.52 acres from Agricultural-Residential to Planned Business District for a $165 million, 4.3 million square-feet distribution center. Legacy Park, if and when built, would comprise six buildings built in two phases. DeSoto County Economic Development Council President and CEO Jim Flanagan gave an impassioned speech in favor of the project, citing the boost to the local economy. A large overflow crowd attended Monday’s Board of Supervisors meeting. (See full story.)
