After a whirlwind year as an intriguing and posh new fixture on Dallas’ hotel landscape, the W Dallas-Victory Hotel and Residences celebrates its first anniversary this month.
The W was just named to Conde Nast Traveler’s “Hot List 2007,” which rated the hottest new hotels based on their looks, location, service and value. Amenities the magazine liked at the W include Bliss spa and the über-upscale Craft restaurant, which offers an exceptional Kobe steak — for $45. At a poolside runway fashion show in May at the W for designer Yeohlee, the 16th-story wet deck was transformed into a gathering place for fashion industry somebodies and stunning women in Gaudi-inspired threads. The evening took on a mojito theme, with the minty drinks flowing as freely as water. The winds kicked up through the deck’s open sides, but rain held off. That was most fortunate, as some of the couture was translucent to begin with.
