AllianceTexas Adds 2,400 Jobs to North Texas During Last 12 Months

Strong gains in hospitality, healthcare highlight a remarkable year of growth

FORT WORTH, Texas (August 3, 2011) – AllianceTexas showed remarkable employment growth during the past 12 months, with more than 2,400 jobs being added. The figure represents one of the biggest year-to-year increases in the project’s two-decade history, and confirms underlying reasons for the surrounding area’s significant population growth. Today, AllianceTexas is home to more than 30,000 employees at 265 of the nation’s leading employers, including 58 of the Fortune 500, Global 500 and Forbes List of Top Private Firms, making it one of the leading employment centers in the state of Texas.

Spread across each area of the AllianceTexas development, including the Circle T Ranch, Alliance Global Logistics Hub, Alliance Town Center and Alliance Airport, job gains from corporate, industrial and retail residents were reported to Hillwood Properties by its resident companies. Publicly released totals from new residents represented more than a third of the additions, with the rest coming from a mix of established office, industrial, aviation, retail and healthcare residents.

The announcement comes on the heels of the development’s first hiring fair in three years, in which nearly 40 companies offered positions within their AllianceTexas facilities. In total, more than 1,800 job applicants participated in the event, which boasted several hundred open positions.

“The last 12 months have been an extraordinary period for job growth at AllianceTexas,” said Mike Berry, president of Hillwood Properties, the master developer of AllianceTexas. “These numbers demonstrate that the development has matured into a world-class job center and self-sustaining community, while also serving as a shining example of the much-publicized ‘Texas Miracle’ that has recently been making national headlines.”

According to the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas, using data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics, Texas is responsible for 237,000 of the nation’s 496,000 new jobs created since 2009. Recently, The Wall Street Journal, National Public Radio, U.S. News and World Report and several other national news outlets have devoted significant space and time to the Texas economic development story (dubbed the “Texas Miracle”). As one of the fastest-growing areas, in one of the fastest-growing states in the nation, AllianceTexas has generated a significant portion of Texas’ newly created jobs.

Other new companies coming to AllianceTexas that brought jobs to the development include:

• Alliance Landscape Company
• Chick-fil-A
• Cousin’s BBQ
• Hollywood Spa & Nails
• Kroger Marketplace
• Llano Logistics/United Supermarkets
• L’Patricia
• Logi-Trans, Inc.
• MCNT Medical Clinic of North Texas
• Nokia Siemens Networks
• Olive Garden
• Onsite Occupational Health and Safety
• Rooms to Go
• Texas Health Convenient Care Alliance
• The Sweet Spot Bakery
• Trican Well Service
• Tuesday Morning
• Zoe’s Kitchen

“What is most impressive about these numbers is that they run across nearly every industry sector in our portfolio,” added Berry. “Moreover, it’s great to see underrepresented industries in the area, like healthcare, making a strong push.  With Texas Health Harris Methodist Hospital Alliance and HCA’s Emergency Medical Center at Alliance coming on line within the next year, AllianceTexas will also become an important healthcare center in the North Texas region. There’s no doubt that the high-paying industry will play a huge role in the number of new jobs we see in the future.”
