DALLAS– Hillwood, a Perot company, announces a +/-62-acre joint venture in West Jefferson, Ohio with Continental Real Estate Companies. Hillwood will begin construction this spring on an approximate 840,000-square-foot distribution center that will be delivered early 2020 to serve the expanding Columbus market. The speculative project offers the capacity for expansion of up to 1.2 million square feet.
“Hillwood’s development activity continues in the Midwest, across North America, and now Europe. We have developed over 100 million square feet of industrial property and Hillwood currently has more than 18 million square feet under development” said Don Schoenheider, Hillwood’s senior vice president and Midwest market leader. “We have built or acquired about 19.5 million square feet in the region with a steady focus on central locations and developing quality projects that are ideally suited to an active and growing customer base.”
This property will offer tenants excellent access to Interstate 70. Situated 20 miles west of the CBD, the property will also provide critical access to sought-after labor.
“Columbus has continually been a prime distribution hub serving the U.S. due in part to its premium transportation infrastructure, and West Jefferson offers the additional appeal of improved proximity to a principle labor pool,” continued Schoenheider.
The building will have top-of-the-line amenities, including 36’ clear height, cross-dock configuration and ESFR fire protection system. There will be approximately 130 trailer parking spaces on the site that presents the capacity for an additional 230 spaces. Up to 200 spaces will be available for auto parking with expansion potential of another 475 spaces.
