Hillwood Awarded NAIOP North Texas’ 2015 Industrial Developer of the Year

Hillwood, a Perot company, was named 2015 Industrial Developer of the Year by NAIOP North Texas, presented at its annual awards luncheon. Developer of the Year is the group’s highest honor, recognizing firms that best represent the commercial real estate industry in the quality of development projects, leadership, and contributions to the North Texas community.

Hillwood delivers fully integrated services ranging from land and building acquisition to development, master planning, construction, leasing, property and asset management, and serves as a provider of capital for joint venture properties. Last year, Hillwood added more than 3.2 million square feet of new industrial property to its portfolio in North Texas. Of this total, 2.4 million square feet has already been leased. Notable projects include the completion of two industrial developments exceeding one million square feet each, located in Dallas, Texas and Hutchins, Texas, and a 300,000-square-foot building expansion in Coppell, Texas.

In addition to these completed developments, Hillwood is on pace to deliver a total of 12.7 million square feet of industrial space in 2016 of which more than 3.6 million square feet is in the North Texas market, representing Hillwood’s continued confidence of DFW as a major logistics hub.

In commenting on the award, CEO Todd Platt, Hillwood Investments, stated, “We had a record-breaking year at Hillwood in 2015, and it is exciting to see the results of the hard work of our leadership and associates. With strong economic growth in our home region of North Texas, we are optimistic on the future and are continuing to identify high-quality, well located properties that meet the needs of our customers.”

At Hillwood’s flagship project, AllianceTexas, the company completed a particularly busy year with the addition of AllianceNorthport, a new 250-acre industrial and mixed-use sector to the development, which will expand the developer’s industrial product by more than 3 million square feet. The development continues to attract global companies like Facebook, which selected AllianceTexas for a 110-acre data facility that will be completely powered by renewable energy. Cumulatively, AllianceTexas has developed more than 40 million square feet, surpassing a total of $59 billion in economic impact. In addition, Hillwood introduced a new division focused on building large office space in North Texas’ urban districts, called Hillwood Urban, led by Mike Berry, president of Hillwood Properties.

Hillwood continues to be an integral part of the North Texas development community, but its contributions stem far beyond commercial development. Last year, Hillwood associates donated hundreds of hours of services to philanthropic causes; most notably the North Texas Food Bank. Hillwood was awarded its coveted Golden Fork Award and named Corporation of the Year.

“Our impact on the North Texas community, whether through economic contributions or philanthropic efforts, has always been a critical part of Hillwood’s business outlook. We are honored to receive this award, and are even more excited for the future of this company,” said Ross Perot, Jr. chairman of Hillwood.
