Hillwood Invests in Dallas-Based Hexivon to Advance PFAS Water Treatment

Strategic investment accelerates Hexivon’s technology designed to permanently destroy PFAS in water and wastewater

DALLAS — As communities across the country confront growing concerns over per- and polyfluoroalkyl substances (PFAS), commonly known as “forever chemicals,” Hillwood has invested in Dallas-based Hexivon, a water technology company whose treatment platform is designed to permanently destroy the compounds rather than simply remove them from water.

The investment expands Hillwood’s infrastructure portfolio into advanced water technologies as utilities, industry and government agencies seek long-term solutions to PFAS contamination.

Hillwood will support Hexivon’s commercialization by applying its experience in infrastructure development, project delivery and long-term capital investment to help expand the technology across municipal utilities, industrial facilities, environmental remediation projects and government customers nationwide.

The investment comes as demand for PFAS treatment continues to grow following new federal regulations and increased investment in water infrastructure. In Texas alone, more than $1 billion has been appropriated to the Texas Water Development Board through House Bill 500 for eligible water supply and infrastructure improvements, including PFAS treatment projects.

Across the Dallas-Fort Worth region, 29 public water systems have exceeded EPA standards, underscoring the need for treatment solutions and available infrastructure funding.

Unlike conventional treatment technologies such as granular activated carbon, ion exchange and reverse osmosis, which remove PFAS from water but create contaminated waste requiring disposal, Hexivon’s technology is designed to destroy the compounds on site at the molecular level on site.

According to Hexivon, the technology has been deployed in municipal drinking water systems, industrial wastewater, landfills and environmental remediation projects.

“We invested in Hexivon because we believe the company has developed a disruptive approach to addressing one of the most pressing environmental challenges facing communities today,” said Ross Perot, Jr., Chairman of Hillwood. “We believe this collaboration can help accelerate adoption of meaningful PFAS treatment solutions across the country.”

As municipalities and industrial operators invest in long-term water infrastructure, demand is expected to grow for technologies that permanently destroy PFAS rather than simply transfer the compounds into another waste stream.

“Hillwood brings far more than capital to this relationship,” said Kevin Boscamp, Chairman of Hexivon. “Their experience developing complex infrastructure projects, working with public-sector stakeholders and deploying long-term investment capital makes them an ideal strategic partner as we accelerate commercialization of our PFAS destruction technology.”

Together, Hillwood and Hexivon plan to accelerate deployment of PFAS destruction systems for municipal, industrial and government customers across the United States.
